Obz Fest is Back this Weekend

Every year on the first week of December, Cape Town celebrates the beginning of summer with The Observatory Festival of Arts. After a brief absence last year Obz Festival is back! The popular festival will once again entertain visitors with local and international music, film screenings, arts and crafts as well as children’s activities.

Synergy Live is Coming!

Capetonians are gearing up for a massive party this weekend – it’s Synergy Live time again and with 100 bands, DJs and Comedians confirmed you can bet this year’s 3 day festival is going to be even bigger than last year. Headlining the main stage this year is grunge band Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club. The US band is sure to rock the stage on the Saturday night of the festival. If you’re heading through for the electro stage then you’ll be pleased to know that Dirtyloud will be headlining the dance area of the festival. Heading up the South African line-up is SA rock veterans the Narrow.

On the line-up you can expect to see Holiday Murray, Sabretooth, Ashtray Electric, Taxi Violence, Zebra & Giraffe, Good Luck, aKING, Hog Hoggidy Hog, Crash Car Burn, Desmond and the Tutus, and Isochronous. For the full line-up visit the Synergy Live website.

On the comedy stage you’ll find the likes of Martin Evans, Rob Van Vuuren, Louw Venter, Chris Steenkamp, Dave Levinsohn, Brendan Murray and many more.

In terms of admin-type stuff you’ll be happy to know that there will be ATM machines on-site, but if you want to avoid transaction fees and standing in queues, bring enough cash to last the weekend. You’ll also find vendors on-site selling all sorts of yummy food. A great option if you’re not keen on lugging up a bunch of food. From schwarmas to pizza to gourmet eats to Asian delights you’ll find it there.

There’s also a list of stuff that you should not take with you – most importantly glass bottles! So don’t be taking through a case of beer in dumpies because they will confiscate them.

One of my favourite things about Synergy Live is the fairground. The festival organizers have once again made sure that there’s a ton of rides to swing, flip and thrill you all weekend long.

Synergy Live takes place from Friday 25 till Sunday 27 November 2011at Boschendal Wine Estate, Franschhoek Valley, Western Cape.

Lastly, don’t forget to pack your swimming costume as Synergy has a reputation for being steaming hot! There’s an awesome lake to dip yourself in when the heat gets a little much and you just want to take a time out.

Tickets cost from R100 to R440 (depending on how long you go for and where you buy them) and can be bought from Outlets or online from webtickets.
