It’s rainy season again and there’s nothing like a good pair of wellies to make you feel unstoppable. I’m loving these new range of super stylish wellies from Hunter Boots – stylish and practical, what more could you want from a winter shoe?

Melissa Shoes Winter 2012

I’ve long lusted after a pair of gorgeous Melissa’s Shoes and have been smitten with the brand ever since its brilliant collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. I got a sneak peak at the brands winter collection and just had to share what they have planned for stores!

If you haven’t tried on a pair of Melissa’s you don’t know what you’re missing out on. The heels are beyond comfortable and the ballet pumps make you feel like you’re walking on air.

This winter Melissa’s is encouraging you to put your best foot forward in rainbow brights, warm berry reds, pastel shades of purple and gorgeous glittery pinks.

Originally from Brazil, Melissa has revolutionised plastic footwear in terms of style and technology, and is about to explode into the South African market. Made from eco-friendly materials and 100% recyclable, Melissa shoes are ecologically sound – so you can look great and help out the planet! The shoes are soft to touch, flexible, durable and have a patented fragrance (it reminds me of the scented My Little Pony range when I was a little girl!).

This season’s range is all about quality, comfort and of course style. Be it a flocked ankle
boot or sexy stiletto; don’t let the weather stop you from trending the hottest shoes in
town.

Melissa shoes are available at selected stockists nationwide or for stockist details call: Tel: +27 83 643 5617. Stockists include Nicci Boutique, ThreeJs Boutique, Toast and Co., Black Coffee.

Steve Madden Launches in South Africa

There are no words to describe how excited I am about this but I’ll try and string something together. Steve Madden is officially launching in South Africa and is opening two stores on our shores! While the stores aren’t in Cape Town it’s still very exciting news and I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until we get a store here in the Mother City (holding thumbs for the V&A Waterfront or Canal Walk).

If you’ve never worn a pair of Steve Madden shoes you are missing out on a super comfortable shoe experience. I own a pair of black and white Steve Madden pumps and they are the most comfortable shoes I own. The brand is well know for its stunning collections and affordable prices – yet it’s loved by many Hollywood stars as well.

The stores opened in Sandton City and Fourways Mall on 10 November and ladies have been shopping up a storm ever since.

Take a look at what’s in stores at the moment.

There’s nothing sexier than a nude heel. Wear them with skinny jeans or with a mini skirt to make your legs look like they go on for miles.

These ruby slippers are stunning! Wear them with an LBD for a little extra sparkle.
These ruby red pumps are awesome. I love the pink heel and the orange sole. A great statement shoe for any outfit.

Visit Steve Madden South Africa’s Facebook for more information.

Lustful Shoes from YDE

I have a little secret love affair with YDE. I mostly shop there for cute party dresses and evening wear but lately their awesome shoe collections have caught my eye as well. Their range of platformed high heels are simply to die for and they’re great for girls on a budget.

The summer range of high heels are super cute and I just had to share them. Take a look at some of my favourites:

I have a soft spot for wedges. Mostly because they’re really comfortable and I can dance all night in a pair of wedges. These black-on-black ones are so stylish and you can slip them on with pretty much anything day or night. This pair will set you back R550.

I’m loving this new range in YDE stores – all their shoes have a pink under-sole – so cute! These sassy pink platforms are a great staple for your wardrobe and at R499, they won’t break the bank either.

These pink mock-croc heels are daring and so so cute. If you’re looking to add a splash of colour to your outfit these are a must! These cute heels are R450.

These are my all-time favourite. I love the fact that it combines two trends in one shoe – animal print and nude heels. I’ve fallen in love with this shoe and by the time you read this I will most probably have bought a pair already. They’re R499 – a steal if you ask me!

YDE has a lot more to offer and they’ve just uploaded tons of pics of their latest range on their Facebook page. Take a look at the rest of the selection here.

For the Love of Espadrilles

I have a new summer foot wear obsession – Espadrilles! Spring hasn’t been upon us for long but these comfy shoes have already become a staple in my warm weather wardrobe. If you’ve missed the boat – Espadrilles are to summer what Ugg boots are to winter.

Espadrilles are normally casual flat, but sometimes high heeled shoes originating from the Pyrenees They usually have a canvas or cotton fabric upper and a flexible sole made of rope or rubber material moulded to look like rope –  the jute rope sole is their defining characteristic.

If you want to make a style statement this spring, wedge espadrilles are the way to go. They look great with pants, mini skirts, skinny jeans, and maxi dresses so you can literally live in them this summer. Wedges are a great every day option as they give you extra height, while still being comfortable to wear.

Espadrilles usually come in bright, bold designs, so they are a great statement piece for summer.  However if you opt for an evening dress or a smarter outfit, team it with either black or nude espadrilles.

If you’re tall, be careful not to wear a wedge that is too high. Some espadrilles have platform wedges to elongate your legs and add a couple of centimetres to your height, but if you’re already tall rather opt for espadrilles with only a slight heel.

Mr Price has some great options in at the moment – flat Espadrilles in various colours retailing at R59.99 and wedge Espadrilles in various colours retailing from R129.99.

Put a Spring in your Step with Le coq Sportif Sneakers

I love these Le coq sportif sneakers. They’re bursting with colour and are perfect for adding a spring in your step as the weather gets warmer.

Le coq sportif has created a bold new range with vibrant colours like deep purples, rich reds and playful metallic. The new range is inspired by the eighties and comes in a range of fabrics – velvet, suede, leather, PVC, and nylon.

To The Shops! Great Canal Walk Finds

After checking out the Winter 2011 Canal Walk Lookbook I’m thinking of headed out for a little Canal Walk shopping spree this weekend. The lookbook is released every season in print and digital form and features the latest items in Canal Walk stores. They have some great new stuff in stores so I thought I’d share some of my favourites from the book.

I love this glamorous wide brimmed floppy hat from Woolworths – at just R150 it’s a steal. It’s a perfect choice for horse racing events or even just to add a little glam to your day time outfit.

I love love love these animal print and brown platforms from Zoom. They’re a reasonable R459 and would spice up any boring old outfit. If you’re scared of animal print but still want to find a way to include it in your outfit this is a great way to add a little shot of grrr without running the risk of looking like George of the Jungle’s other half.

Forever New is a relatively new store at Canal Walk. The Australian brand has some stunning stuff in store. I really like these leather cut-off gloves at R229. They don’t have a South African website yet but if you’d like to see more of their stuff visit their Australian website or check out the link to the Canal Walk Lookbook above.
