Going Bos for Ice Tea

There’s nothing better than a tall glass of ice tea with lots of ice on a sweltering hot summer day. My love affair with ice tea has recently gotten a bit of jolt with the release of a delicious new product. The BOS Ice Tea range is simply yummy and I thought I’d wax lyrical about it here so you that you all go out and try it as well.

The range, which is blended with a Rooibos base, comes in five delicious flavours: Peach, Lemon, Apple, BOS Energy and BOS Slim. The teas also mix really well with vodka for an ice cold drink with a bit of a kick.

For information on where you can get your hands on some BOS visit their Facebook page.

I’m a girl that loves beer… but not just any beer… Weissbeer. Oddly enough I used to hate beer up until a few years ago but I’ve slowly come to realise that I was drinking the wrong beer. It was not until one faithful day when I tasted &Union’s Weiss beer at an expo that I started my journey in to beer drinking. If you’re going to get in to drinking Weiss you’ll have to do some exploring in the realm of craft beer and microbreweries.

&Union describes their Steph Weiss as ‘Liquid Sunshine. Delicate, smooth and creamy.” This tasty beer goes down well with sushi and… well anything really … and goes for about R19 a bottle (if you’re buying it from selected bottle stores in Cape Town) or about R45 a bottle if you’re ordering it in a restaurant or bar. If Weiss isn’t your thing &Union has a great selection of beers to choose from.

Another favourite of mine is Paulaner Bräuhaus Weiss beer. It’s goes down really well when paired with one of their giant pretzels. If you’re a beer novice you might want to ease yourself in to it with Paulaner’s delicious Russen beers (Wiess beer mixed with lemonade). A 300ml Weiss beer or Russen will set you back R23 and a 500ml R28.

I first tried the tasty Johnny Gold Weiss beer by Boston Breweries at the 2011 Taste of Cape Town and was hooked. It’s a sweet and fruity beer that is usually very popular with the ladies. Pair it with chips and other savory items to bring out it’s fruity flavours. Four 550ml bottles will cost you R75.
