Spring/Summer Wardrobe Tips

Every spring  summer I struggle to come up with new and sassy ways to mix and match the items in my cupboard and often stick to the same outfit combinations all the way through spring and summer. So I thought I’d lend a helping hand and share some the of the cute outfit combinations I’ve found online over the past few months – and then I’m going to take it one step further and show you were you can get these same items in South Africa!

This week I’m concentrating on two outfits I absolutely love – (both are great combos with shorts) and how to achieve the same look from online store Zando.co.za.

I first found this cute shorts and jersey combo in a US Zoom catalogue and just loved it!

The great news is you can find similar items online at Zando!

This black knitted sweater from Pull-It can be ordered off their site for R239 and these Vero Moda shorts for R299.

I love this casual-chic shorts and T-shirt combo which I found on Fashionworship.com

Recreate the look with these finds from Zando. These Mint sandals are just R179! The bag is from Buffalo and is R351.

These bracelets are from Utopia and are R69 each. The feather necklace is from Tessa Design  and is R209.

The shorts below are from Rip Curl and are R291 and the sunnies are Michael Kors and will set you back R1580.

Lastly, this funky T-shirt is from Mint and will set you back R364.

Bergasol Bronzage Now Available at Sorbet

Summer is coming and it’s time to start stocking up on summer beauty products – the most important of those being sunblock! We all crave that golden sun-kissed colour but it’s just not worth the risk! But you don’t have to stay out of the sun completely – it is summer after all! So what if I told you that you could get a natural tan colour and still stay protected from the sun – sounds awesome doesn’t it? Introducing Bergasol!

In 1969, Bergasol introduced a revolutionary concept to the French Riviera: fast, intense, natural tanning. And now, Bergasol Bronzage Passion is available in South Africa! The clever product offers women the pleasure of a golden tan with optimal sun protection.

The secret to Bergasol®  Bronzage Passion is a Tan Accelerator Complex that speeds up melanin production (the naturally-occurring pigment that gives skin its colour) during and after sun exposure. The result is a gradual, even, natural colour.

At the same time, Bergasol®  Bronzage Passion contains the latest innovative technologies in sun filters to make sure that there’s always the right balance of tanning and protection. Each Bergasol  Bronzage Passion sunscreen contains advanced broad-spectrum UVA/UVB filters that are compliant with the latest European Union regulations to offer effective protection while allowing your skin’s natural tanning process.

The light, refreshing formulas all spray on, spread well and are easily absorbed. They don’t leave an oily residue or pasty white marks on the skin and the formulations are all paraben-free, making them a must-have this summer.

They’ve got a ton of awesome products like: Bergasol Bronzage Passion Dry Oil Spray; Bergasol Bronzage Passion Sun Milk; Bergasol Bronzage Passion Refreshing Aerosol; Bergasol Bronzage Passion Moisturizing Sun Cream for Face; Bergasol Bronzage Passion After Sun Body Spray; Bergasol Bronzage After Sun Face & Body:

The Bergasol Bronzage range is available exclusively at Sorbet salons. For more information, call OMEGALabs on 011 709 9000, visit www.omegalabs.co.za or Like Bergasol South Africa on Facebook.

Great Summer Finds at American Swiss

I’m loving what American Swiss has on offer this summer. The latest offerings are right on trend with this season – from colour addict, to flower child, to biker chick you’ll find a shiny item to match your summer look.

I love these sterling silver and crystal heart-shaped pendant necklaces. They start at R200 for the smallest pendant and go up to R599 for the larger 9ct gold necklace and pendant.

These bright Temp watches are great for making a statement in summer. I’d love one in every colour! They retail for R699.

If you’re in to flower power try these floral inspired pieces. My personal favourites are the two pink rings in the middle. The retail for R1299 (left) and R1299 (right).

Going Bos for Ice Tea

There’s nothing better than a tall glass of ice tea with lots of ice on a sweltering hot summer day. My love affair with ice tea has recently gotten a bit of jolt with the release of a delicious new product. The BOS Ice Tea range is simply yummy and I thought I’d wax lyrical about it here so you that you all go out and try it as well.

The range, which is blended with a Rooibos base, comes in five delicious flavours: Peach, Lemon, Apple, BOS Energy and BOS Slim. The teas also mix really well with vodka for an ice cold drink with a bit of a kick.

For information on where you can get your hands on some BOS visit their Facebook page.

No Melting Make Up with Hannon Moisture Seal

Applying make up in the Summer heat can be a nightmare – runny, melty make up is not a good look for anyone. But now there’s a great new product to the rescue and it’s perfect for combating the South African summer sun.

Hannon Moisture Seal will make applying make up so much easier as it sets and seals you make up for up to 10 hours! Moisture Seal is a facial spray, and should be sprayed on directly after applying your make-up. It leaves your skin feeling smooth, soft and supple, and protects your skin from excess moisture-loss.

One of the Moisture Seal’s key ingredients is ‘light reflectors’ which makes the product appear blue in colour. These light reflectors settle into the lines and wrinkles of your skin, reflecting light and gives you an instant, more youthful looking skin.

This awesome beauty product retails for R115 for a 125ml bottle.

To Go Where No Wine has Gone Before

While this lovely wine has been around for a little while now, I’ve noticed that few people know about it. It’s the perfect wine for Spring as it’s ultra portable (thanks to it being in a plastic PET bottle).

Tread Lightly by Backsberg, the first SA winery to declare its carbon neutral status, was launched with the environment and convenience in mind. The wine was the first certified wine sold in the newly certified innovative PET bottle. The Tread Lightly Merlot 2008, Chenin Blanc 2008, and Sauvignon Blanc 2010 varietals are bottled in a lightweight, stylish, PET bottle.

The brand is not only environmentally sound, but Tread Lightly is also so convenient because it is light, shatterproof and less fragile than glass. With its shatterproof design Tread Lightly’s soft bottle delivers all the aesthetic qualities of glass making it a stylish choice for outdoor entertaining at festivals, picnics, boating, beach parties and braais where traditional glass bottles are unsafe or not allowed

Tread Lightly by Backsberg soft bottled wine holds 750ml of wine – the same as a glass bottle – and contains 14 percent alcohol. Packing of beverages in PET reduces energy consumption by 52% vs Glass & Metal. Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 55%

The wine is available at Pick n Pay stores country wide and retails at R29 for the Chenin Blanc, R39 for the Sauvignon Blanc, and R49 for the Tread Lightly Merlot.

Sunglass Hut Launches Interchangeable Ray-Bans

Now this is cool! Say goodbye to having one look when it comes to your shades this summer, Sunglasses Hut has just launched a range of interchangeable Ray-Bans in stores nationwide.

The range, dubbed ‘Flip Outs’ is available in Aviator and Caravan styles. The novel sunglasses gives you the option of changing your look with a variety of lenses in different colours.

I was a big fan of Ray-Ban before this but now that they’ve upgraded the popular Aviator and Caravan styles with these uni Flip Outs I’m an even bigger fan!

It’s such an easy way to update your look this summer. Each pair of Ray-Ban Flip Outs is available in a kit of three effortlessly interchangeable lenses available in three different shades: gold, black and gunmetal.

The mirrored, gradient and polarized lenses offer UV protection and the different colour tints fight glare in any lighting condition – perfect for the South African summer. Lenses easily switch out of the frames and separate lens cases are provided for storing your spares.

Ray-Ban Flip Outs are available at Sunglass Hut stores nationwide retailing at R2750.

Pretty as a Daisy

It’s official flowers are trending in a BIG way this Spring/Summer. Inspired by the 1950s and every thing pretty this trend is a must-include when emerging from the dullness that was winter. I’ve just bought a gorgeous pair of floaty floral shorts from YDE and was inspired to share some ways to add a little floral infusion to your look this summer.

I love these slight cat eye floral sunglasses from Dolce&Gabbana. Pick them up for R2290 at Sunglass Hut ( a little steep but worth it if you’ve been meaning to invest in a new pair for summer). I’m also a fan of these Oversized floral sunnies also D&G. You’ll find these priced at R2290 at Sunglass Hut.

Patterns are alive from ditzy to over-sized and in every shape and form, from floaty tea dresses, right down to swimwear and accessories. These two little dresses, both from Sissy Boy are a perfect way to pretty-up your wardrobe. Both dresses are R699 at Sissy Boy stores.

If you’re not too keen to go overboard with the floral look or don’t want to dent your pocket too much why not try a subtle floral head piece like this cute headband from Foschini. It’ll set you back just R40 and it’s cute as hell.

Trenery Launches Spring Collection

Trenery at Woolworths has launched their Spring Collection and I must say it’s quite awesome. The theme for this year’s Spring collection is Modern Simplicity. From nautical finds to luxury leather you’re bound to find a must-have in the new collection. Take a look at some of my favourites from the collection.

I love this nautical look – especially the white cotton pants. This a great way to update your wardrobe for Spring… just add white.

I love this cherry-red leather bag – it’s the perfect way to add a pop of colour to your Spring outfits. Trenery has a great selection of leather bags in all colours this Spring.

Zip detail is another Spring trend that I love. This slouchy dress, with zip detail, is the ultimate comfort item for Spring. It will be dream to slip on this light-weight dress when the weather is a little too balmy for your liking.
