Spring/Summer Wardrobe Tips

Every spring  summer I struggle to come up with new and sassy ways to mix and match the items in my cupboard and often stick to the same outfit combinations all the way through spring and summer. So I thought I’d lend a helping hand and share some the of the cute outfit combinations I’ve found online over the past few months – and then I’m going to take it one step further and show you were you can get these same items in South Africa!

This week I’m concentrating on two outfits I absolutely love – (both are great combos with shorts) and how to achieve the same look from online store Zando.co.za.

I first found this cute shorts and jersey combo in a US Zoom catalogue and just loved it!

The great news is you can find similar items online at Zando!

This black knitted sweater from Pull-It can be ordered off their site for R239 and these Vero Moda shorts for R299.

I love this casual-chic shorts and T-shirt combo which I found on Fashionworship.com

Recreate the look with these finds from Zando. These Mint sandals are just R179! The bag is from Buffalo and is R351.

These bracelets are from Utopia and are R69 each. The feather necklace is from Tessa Design  and is R209.

The shorts below are from Rip Curl and are R291 and the sunnies are Michael Kors and will set you back R1580.

Lastly, this funky T-shirt is from Mint and will set you back R364.

Upcycle with REcreate

I’ve hidden my credit card in my freezer … and it’s all because of REcreate! I’m obsessed with their Upcycled decor items and furniture and seriously would buy the whole collection if I was left to my own devices for long enough. And, what make it worse is that the collection is currently on sale at City Mob – curses!

Donna Solovei, the genious behind the brand produces upcycled vintage furniture that is just to die for. REcreate turns castaways into clever creations that will transform interior spaces forever.

Imagine a suitcase turned side table; zinc tub turned ottoman! Their stylishly salvaged pieces never seize to amaze and inspire.

Fascinate at the Durban July

If you’re planning to head down to the Durban July for a day at the races this year you’re going to need a ‘wow’ outfit… and more importantly a ‘wow’ hat or headpiece.

If hats just aren’t your thing try wearing a super cute fascinator instead! The Little Hattery are now available from 36Boutiques and will add a touch of glamour to your outfit.

Alexis Chaffe, online fashion editor at 36Boutiques stresses that less really is more. “Women often tend to over accessorise at race day events – adding a statement hat to an already very busy outfit. The trick is to complement your look, and not overwhelm it. If you’re planning on wearing a demure dress, then you may want to add a pop of colour with a bright hat. But if your frock is already loud and proud, rather opt for something small and understated.”

The Little Hattery prides itself in creating handmade, one-of-a-kind masterpieces. With race day just around the corner, you’ll be happy to know that items from The Little Hattery will be delivered within 48 hours when bought on 36Boutiques.

36Boutiques offers free delivery directly to your door, hassle-free return policies.

For more information and to start shopping for that fabulous fascinator visit www.36boutiques.com.

5rooms Decor and Home Store

It’s official, I’ve gone decor crazy! After finding this new online decor store, 5rooms, I can’t stop shopping!

The kid on the online block offers South African shoppers both international and national brands so you can shop up a store and still support the Local is Lekker vibe!

The site already has an array of local design brands on 5rooms.com including; Carrol Boyes, Helon Melon, Liam Mooney, Made by Seb, Dark Horse, Jared Odell, Guideline, O.D.E, Cara Saven photography,  and Baby Belle. You’ll also find: Upsy daisy, Haldane Martin, Jo Carlin, Nap, Amelia Jackson, Richard Heart, Still Life and more.
The store has only been open for 3 months, but is quickly making a name for itself with both shoppers and designers. The site is super easy to use and you browse a variety of brands from your couch. Once you’ve found something you like just click ‘buy’ and wait for it to be delivered to your doorstep – for free!
On the international front the store sells: Joseph Joseph, Bugatti, Bodum, Ballarini, Cafitality, Dauphin, De’ Longi, Victorinox and many more.
Here’s some awesome stuff I found on the site today:

Every girl needs super cute tools in her life – I don’t know how I lived with that boring old hammer before this cute floral one came in to my life. They have a ton of cute tools with cute patterns so take a look at the site for more. The hammer and screw driver are both R89 each.

This white and black Replica Ball Chair would be an awesome addition to my lounge. Super retro and super cute – how could you not want one?

I love cut-out furniture so this black chair caught my eye immediately. It would like awesome as a dinning room chair and would be a great way to add an eye-catching element to a room.  The chair retails for R695 and also comes in white and red.

I’ve long lusted after a pair of gorgeous Melissa’s Shoes and have been smitten with the brand ever since its brilliant collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. I got a sneak peak at the brands winter collection and just had to share what they have planned for stores!

If you haven’t tried on a pair of Melissa’s you don’t know what you’re missing out on. The heels are beyond comfortable and the ballet pumps make you feel like you’re walking on air.

This winter Melissa’s is encouraging you to put your best foot forward in rainbow brights, warm berry reds, pastel shades of purple and gorgeous glittery pinks.

Made from eco-friendly materials and 100% recyclable, Melissa shoes are ecologically sound – so you can look great and help out the planet! The shoes are soft to touch, flexible, durable and have a patented fragrance (it reminds me of the scented My Little Pony range when I was a little girl!).

This season’s range is all about quality, comfort and of course style. Be it a flocked ankle
boot or sexy stiletto; don’t let the weather stop you from trending the hottest shoes in
town.

Cobalt Blue Heaven

I’m a little obsessed with Cobalt blue this season so I went digging around to find some things to share with you all! Here’s so lust-worthy cobalt goodies I just love:

Add a splash of cobalt blue with this cute clutch from Queue. It’ll set you back R199 but it’s so worth it!

Loving this blue boyfriend chiffon top from Sissy Boy. It’s a little steep at R599 but it’ll look great with black skinnies!

I love these cobalt blue skinnies from Sissy Boy – pick up a pair for R699 today. They’ll look great with a black tank top and riding boots.

If you’re not ready to take the plunge and wear cobalt blue jeans just yet, invest in some accessories like the bracelets above. These are from Sass Diva and will set you back R230 for the set.

Here’s a little peek at the things I love from the site.

This grey scoop neck dress from Bettie Basics is absolutely stunning! I’ve been on the lookout for a basic long-sleeved dress like this for ages so was thrilled when I found it. The stretchy design is perfect for all seasons and the dress would look amazing with bare legs, stockings, or leggings. At just R289 it’s a steal!

I love Iron Fist so I was so excited when I saw this t-shirt on Zando! Loving the fox design draped over the neck line. It’ll set you back R149 – your wallet will love that!

I’ve also been on the hunt for a cute pair of ankle boots recently and I absolutely love this military-esque pair from Utopia. They look super comfy and at R449 they won’t break the bank!

I have an obsession with cobalt blue at the moment so I literally shrieked when I saw this jacket from Anymore. The cropped dress jacket is  super cute way to add a splash of colour to an otherwise basic outfit. Get this piece for just R750.

I Want Proof!

I stumbled across these at a market the other day and was smitten! I introduce to you, Proof wood sunglasses. The super cute sunnies are made entirely from wood – the frames at least.

The brand strives to make styles that are naturally classic, that can be worn anywhere.  All their wood comes from sustainable wood sources and a large portion of each sale goes to eye clinics in India to provide sight-giving surgeries or to help with reforestation programs in Hati. So you’ll be doing your bit for the planet.
